About Our Mentors                                    Become a Mentor

The mentors will come from all walks of life, i.e., retired educators, business community, retirees, and college students. Anywhere we can recruit able, suitable mentors. We will screen all mentors and will have a criminal background check on all participants. We expect the mentor to commit to one hour per week for the entire school year. Mentors take on the responsibility for, and commit to, having a positive impact on the critical developmental needs of their mentees.

We conduct educational workshops for mentors to learn strategies in:

    • Youth development for working with their mentees
    • Conflict resolution
    • Anger management
    • Goal-setting strategies, etc.

Mentors offer extracurricular activities for mentees to:

    • Experience life – expanding cultural activities
    • Learn about job/career choices
